Stryper-Calling on you

First time i heard them was around 1985. I bought the album To Hell With The Devil. I thought ” Hey, it’s cool to wear yellow & black stripes costume”. Some good looking hair metal guys playing nice melodic rock tunes. “Honestly” & “Calling On You” was regularly aired in American Top 10 with Casey Kasem during that time.

Stryper stands for Salvation Through Redemption Yielding Peace, Encouragement and Righteousness. The Isaiah 53:5 under their logo is the bible verse that states “by His stripes we are healed”. Original members are Micheal Sweet (vovals & guitar), Ozz Fox (guitar), Tim Gaines (bass) & Robert Sweet (drums).Formed in 1983. Originally broke up in 1992, reformed in 2003.Stryper started as a heavy metal band, but soon turned to hard rock. They were accepted based on their early career, especially the “The Yellow and Black Attack” debut album. Also, they were first known as Roxx Regime, which featured guitarist C.C. Deville of Poison.
