Despite naming their band after a lethal bacterial disease – remember the controversy surrounding them during 2001’s anthrax scare? – ANTHRAX is one of those bands that put the ‘legend’ in ‘legendary’. Though the line-up has changed multiple times, ex-vocalist Joey Belladonna returned in 2010 to commit on recording a new album with the band, “Worship Music” which will be released this September.

ANTHRAX came to our region earlier this year when they performed in the Philippines at the end of April and now they’re slated to perform in Jakarta, Indonesia at the end of the year. Metalheads, be prepared to mosh! Suede Live In Singapore

Britpop pioneers, Suede are set to perform at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Wednesday, 3 August 2011.

Reunited in 2010, the English alternative rockers have since embarked on a series of concerts, and released their greatest hits compilation, The Best of Suede.

Suede are Brett Anderson, Mat Osman, Simon Gilbert, Richard Oakes and Neil Codling. The band have achieved three number 1 albums, including their debut Suede, which also won the Mercury Prize in 1993. In 2003, after five albums, Suede disbanded.

Suede reformed at the beginning of 2010 for a Teenage Cancer Trust gig at the Royal Albert Hall, and due to the sheer joy of playing together again, a brief tour in Europe soon followed.

Later in the year, they released Best of Suede, a two CD compilation of their greatest hits which feature songs such as The Beautiful Ones, Saturday Night, Wild Ones,

“It’s the complete audio history of a band and, like any band of interest, it’s flawed, strange and sometimes beautiful,” Anderson says of the album.

Suede last performed in Singapore in 2003.  Fans hooked on Suede can expect an amazing, nostalgic show with a hit laden set, reminiscent of the 90s definitive years.

R.E.M. lead singer Michael Stipe has revealed in a message posted to xoJane.com that he is currently in the studio working on a new R.E.M. album.

No further details of the album have surfaced as of yet.

The band released their most recent album, Collapse Into Now, back in March of this year.

The album was the last of the band’s recording contract with Warner, leading to speculation that the band may go the route of Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails and others in self-releasing their next album.

Judas Priest guitarist K.K. Downing has stunned fans by quitting the band after 42 years – just weeks before they head out on a farewell tour.

The British rockers, who formed in 1969 and have sold 40 million records worldwide, announced in December (10) they plan to pack up their instruments for good after saying goodbye to their fans with a global series of dates.

But just weeks before the heavy metal legends are due to kick off their final tour with a concert in Tilburg, Holland in June (11), the band has announced Downing has quit.

In a statement on the official Judas Priest website the band announced “with regret” that Downing has retired and will not be joining them on their forthcoming tour. Downing will be replaced by a British guitarist called Richie Faulkner.

Cavalera Conspiracy release their second album, ‘Blunt Force Trauma’, on Monday 29 March. It’s five years since Max and Igor officially kissed and made-up and two years since their debut ‘Inflikted’ hit record stores, so we think the timing is just right for a second slab of South American metal!
